NEW DELHI (Commodity Online) : Food inflation in India climbed past the ten percent mark for the week ended August 20.
According to official sources, country’s food price index rose 10.05%, its highest in nearly six months, and the fuel price index climbed 12.55% in the year to Aug. 20.
In the previous week, annual food and fuel inflation stood at 9.80% and 13.13% respectively.
The primary articles index was up 12.93%, compared with an annual rise of 12.40% a week earlier.
The Reserve Bank of India has raised interest rates 11 times since March 2010 to tame headline inflation, which stood at 9.22% in July.
