HYDRABAD (Commodity Online): India, largest producer of mango, developed four hybrid mango varieties, which has yield a three to four times times than existing varieties.
The four new varieties was developed by the scientist A K Singh in the Indian Agriculture Research Institute and they are named the varieties as Pusa Pratibha, Pusa Peetamber, Pusa Shreshth and Pusa Lalima.
According to A K Singh, the new mango varieties are expected to yield 20 ton per hectare.
India produces around 15 million tons and exports around 60,000 tons to UAE, UK, US and Bangladesh.
India earns around $35 million every year with the exports of the mangoes alone.
