NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): Sowing of rabi crops is progressing well in different parts of India and compared to last year's 384.70 lakh hectares, the total acreage stands at 374.22 lakh hectares.
Coarse cereals have exceeded previous year's sown area and as of Friday stands at 46.15 lakh hectares. Last year, the figure stood at 44.83 lakh hectares.
Wheat has been sown in 157.89 lakh ha, even as last year saw acreage at 162.50 lakh hectares. Rice has been sown in 0.85 lakh hectares, compared to 1.05 lakh hecatres last year.
Pulses meanwhile lag at 102.49 lakh hectares even as 109.56 lakh hecatres saw the cultivation of the commodity last year. Oil seeds acreage stands at 374.22 lakh hectares. Last year, the figure stood at 66.76 lakh hectares.
