India signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase the bilateral cooperation and mutual development between Afghanistan to explore the country's great natural wealth.

KABUL (commodity Online): India signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase the bilateral cooperation and mutual development between Afghanistan to explore the country's great natural wealth.

According to Beni Prasad Verma, Union Minister of Steel, this step is likely to help reinforcing the cooperation in various sectors with special focus on mineral exploration and mining.

The MoU will not just act as a catalyst in the development of Afghanistan but will also be a high point in ensuring co-operation in the two countries. The initiative will also facilitate greater economic ties between the two countries.

According to Shahrani, Minister of Mines of Afghanistan, Both sides shared a common view of working together for the development of iron ore mines and setting up of industry in Afghanistan and hope that options for joint exploration of Afghanistan’s huge reserves of rare earth metals and ores for metals like tungsten, tin, bauxite, lead, zinc could also be worked out by the two countries.

Presently, India's Steel Authority of India (SAIL) led consortium is working in development of Hajigak iron ore project.
