NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): India's coffee exports during October -November period in 2011-12 coffee year declined 2% to 38,598 tons from 39,448 ton s same period last year, according to the data provided by the Coffee Board.
Meanwhile, the coffee exports of the country rose 22% in November to 19,403 tons against October.
Earlier, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) had forcast that the India's coffee exports may decline by 24% to 4.2 million bags of 60 kg each in the current marketing year that started in October 2011.
Eurozone debt crisis and weakening of rupee against the dollar may be considered the reason for the dip in exports of the country as major importers are Italy, Germany, the Russian Federation, Belgium and Spain.
The price realisation of coffee rose 38 % to Rs 1.46 lakh per ton during October-November period in 2011-12 coffee year compared with Rs 1.06 lakh per ton in the same period of the previous coffee year, reported PTI.
The coffee output of the country for 2011-12 is estimated to be 322,250 tons against 302,000 tons previous year.
Meanwhile, due to bad weather conditions in Asia and in Latin America, the global coffee output projection has been revised by the International Coffee Organisation and at presently the output is pegged at 127.4 million bags (1 bag = 60-kg ) against 130 million bags.
On ICE, the coffee for December delivery traded at 233 cents on Thursday.
