NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): India's food grains production is likely to touch a new record of 250.42 million tons for 2011-12, with 102.75 million tons of rice and 88.31 million tons of Wheat, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The food grain production for 2011-12 is higher by 18.35 million tons than 2010-11.
The estimated production of total foodgrains during 2011-12 stands at a record level of 250.42 million tonnes which is higher than the target of 245 million tonnes fixed for the year.
Wheat production is expected to reach 88.31 million tonnes, pulses 17.28 million tonnes and cotton 34.09 million bales (of 170 kg. each) this year.
Production of cotton estimated at 34.09 million bales (of 170 kg. bales) is also a new record.
