NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): India's index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector in November 2011 increased by 4.27% compared to the preceding month, according to the dat provided by the Ministry of Mines.
The mineral sector has dipped 4.44% during November 2011 as compared to that of the corresponding month of previous year.
The total value of mineral production (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during November 2011 was Rs.15692 crore.
While, the contribution of petroleum (crude) was the highest at Rs. 5567 crore (35%), followed by coal (Rs 4628 crore), iron ore (Rs.2788 crore), natural gas (utilized) (Rs. 1409 crore), lignite (Rs. 301 crore) and limestone (Rs. 282crore). These six minerals together contributed about 95% of the total value of mineral production in November 2011.
In November 2011, the output of magnesite increased by 46.52%, diamond (38.22%), coal (20.15%), zinc conc. (19.44%), manganese ore (18.05%), chromite (11.60%), lignite (9.32%), lead conc. (4.90%), gold (3.85%), dolomite (3.38%), bauxite (1.96%).
However the production of limestone decreased by 0.44%, copper conc. (2.56%), petroleum (crude) (4.13%), natural gas (utilized) (4.27%), apatite & phosphorite (5.49%), and iron ore (6.36%).
