THIRUVANTHAPURAM (Commodity Online): India’s cooperative major NAFED has chalked out a scheme to develop country’s high potential organic farming, thus to generate income from across the globe.

The NAFED is all set to give awareness, support and expertise strategies to farmers in order to boost organic farming in spices, vegetables, fruits and medicinal plants in their land.

The demand for the pesticide and fertilizer-free agri products has been growing globally and India could benefit from these strong global needs of fertilizer-free farm products that the country can generate, said National Agricultural Marketing Co-operative Federation Managing Director, C V Ananda Bose.



NAFED also has plans to make Kerala the hub of organic farming and set up a national institute to promote it in view of the awareness of its potential among the state farmers.

Since quality and certification were critical factors for the acceptability of organic products, especially by the advanced West, NAFED would also make arrangements for that.
