CANBERRA (Commodity Online): India's nuclear reactors starving for resources are likely to get relief as Australia may remove the ban over the exports of uranium to India.

The ban was imposed on India as the country did not sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty with Australia.

According to Julia Gillard, Australian Prime Minister, the time has come for the Labor party to change this position and selling uranium to India will prove good for the Australian economy, reported Reuters.

India can now fulfill the ambitious target of nuclear energy growth to meet the country's power needs.
