MUMBAI (Commodity Online): On the back of improved demand, India's spices exports during April-November 2011 period in terms of value grew 43% to Rs 6,209 crore from Rs 4,336 crore same period last year. Meanwhile, the export volume fell 5% to 3, 51,900 tons.
India exported 3, 72,010 tons of spices in April-November 2010 period.
The demand for the Indian spices improved in the international market with Cardamom as the best performer followed by pepper, ginger, turmeric, cumin, celery, fenugreek, nutmeg and mace and other spices like tamarind and asafetida.
In India's Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), Cardamom for February delivery traded at Rs 664.60 at 11:30 IST on 28th January.
