India’s STC to import 16000 tons of pulses
NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): India’s public utility, State Trading Corporation has floated a tender for the import of 16000 tons of pulses to be delivered during September-November.
The bidders should source pulses from Myanmar, Australia, Canada and the U.S and bids should reach before September 10, the company said.
The pulses are to be delivered at the Mumbai, Chennai and Tuticorin ports.
India, the world's largest buyer of pulses, imports around a fifth of its annual requirement. It usually produces close to 15 million tons of pulses, while annual demand is around 19 million tons.
