NEW DELHI (commodity Online): The import of coal from Indonesia to be costlier for Indian companies as the new policy of government demands to raise the price of coal to international level.
"The regulation is likely to increase the price of coal in case of projects using imported coal from Indonesia," said Pratik Prakashbapu Patil, Minister of State (MoS) for Coal in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
"The impact on the tariff of such projects may vary, depending upon the quality of imported coal and fuel mix", he added.
The September 23, 2010, regulation ratified by the government of Indonesia stipulates the benchmark price for coal sales, said patil.
