YANGON (Commodity Online) : Indonesia will get up to 200,000 tons of rice 5% broken rice a year from Myanmar under the agreement signed between the two nations, according to the Myanmar Rice Industry Association (MRIA).
The deal is worth $50 million to $100 million.
Indonesia began to import rice from 2010 onwards after country's stockpiles dropped and harvests failed to meet targets.
Indonesia is presently the third-largest rice consumer and last year, the country imported around 1.9 million tons of rice from Thailand, Vietnam and India.
Myanmar is estimated to produce around 11 million tons for 2011-12.
