Industry suffers heavily on fake consumer goods

GHAZIABAD (Commodity Online): The problem of fake or counterfeit consumer goods flooding Indian market is having its impact on corporate bottomlines accroding to Dabur India Group Director, P D Narang. India Inc loses Rs 30,000 cr while exchequer loses Rs 15,000 cr. The FMCG industry alone has been facing losses of over Rs 2,600 crore per year, due to counterfeit products, he added.

Moving ahead on Dabur India Ltd's efforts to act against counterfeit products racket, illegal manufacturing and packaging units in Lalganj of Pratapgarh area in Uttar Pradesh, involved in production of spurious Dabur Gulabari, were raided resulting in arrest of three persons and seizure of huge quantity of counterfeit products.



"Dabur India has been targeting such counterfeit manufacturers across the country. Through the initiatives of Dabur India, raids have been conducted at various locations and goods worth over Rs 1.50 crore have been seized so far through the raids. The Company has mapped out the locations where these activities take place and is going after the spurious and fake products manufacturers systematically. Leads have been obtained on packaging and label suppliers as well, and Dabur India will spare no efforts to get them all behind bars," said Dabur India Ltd Group Director Mr. P D Narang.

Based on an FIR, local authorities conducted raids at the premises of B. K. Printers, printer of spurious Dabur Gulabari Label in Lalganj, Pratapgarh and seized close to 50,000 fake printed labels of Dabur Gulabari. In a simultaneous raid conducted at the premises of M. H. Industries, manufacturer of spurious Dabur Gulabari in Shangipur, Pratapgarh 37876 falke Dabur Gulabari labels, 35219 filled bottles of counterfeit Dabur Gulabari Rose Water & 300 caps and empty bottles of Dabur Gulabari were seized. Accused Ram Murat Shukla of B. K. Printers, and Mohd. Muharam and Jai Govind Tiwari of M. H. Industries were arrested and sent to judicial custody. (IndiaPRWire)
