Kenya develops disease resistant corn variety
NAIROBI (Commodity Online): Kenyan scientists have developed a new corn variety that is resistant to striga, or witchweed disease, The Standard newspaper reports Friday.
“It matures within 120 to 140 days, and the grain yields three to five tons an acre,” the daily quoted Kenneth Otieno, Kibos Centre Director at the Kenya Agriculture Research Institute, as saying Thursday, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
