Malaysia to shift palm oil expansion plan to SA
KUALA LUMPUR (Commodity online): Malaysia’s Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), the largest oil plantation owner in the world has decided to shift its expansion plan from South America to West Africa, including Cameroon and Liberia.
The FELDA is planning to plant 100000 hectares as an initial phase and it would be expanded if it doesn’t encounter trouble, the Chairman Mohd Yusof Noor was quoted by a local report.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s December 1-20 palm oil exports fell 7.4% compared with the same period in November to 884,042 metric tons, cargo surveyor SGS (Malaysia) Bhd. said Monday.
SGS put exports for the same period in November at 954,652 tons. Another surveyor, Intertek Agri Services, put Dec. 1-20 exports at 858,307 tons, down 7.7% on month.
