MUMBAI (Commodity Online): The recent improvement of India’s annual monsoon rains have helped wheat and other grains production significantly as sowing of these grains were delayed due to poor monsoon at the start of this season.

According to Indian Meteorological Department, monsoon is expected to start withdraw from next week.

The recent rain has helped improve the shortfall to 30% compared with 60% few weeks back. The annual monsoon was 21% below the 50-year average in the June 1-Sept. 14 period for the country. It was 47% below normal in June, it said.

The rainfall typically begins receding from the middle of September, but this year it has continued for longer after a dry spell between June and mid-August.
