Monsoon rain registers 20% above normal rainfall
NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): India’s monsoon rains revived since September and have registered 20% above normal rainfall in the week ended September 9, improving for the second straight week, said Indian Meteorological Department.
The country received 56.2 millimeters of rain during the period, while 46.3 mm is considered normal, the department said on its Web site.
India’s monsoon, crucial for summers own crops as about 60% of the farms are rain-fed, was 4% above normal in the week ended September 2.
