ONGC’s Kutchh unit gets UNFCCC registration
AHMEDABAD (Commodity Online): India’s state-run public sector oil explorer, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) (BOM:500312) today announced that its Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of 51MW wind power project located in Gujarat has been registered with United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
This sixth CDM project of ONGC, situated in Kutchh in Gujarat, is estimated to fetch an annual accruable Certified Emission Reduction (CER) of 85,762 for a period of 21 years, with estimated earnings of around Rs.6.69 Crore per annum, the company stated in a statement.
Investment Risk Analysis FREE to your inboxThe company officials mentioned that thirty four wind mills each having power generation capacity of 1,500 KW had been installed in Kutch. The clean energy produced from here is used for in house consumption at various oil production facilities of Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Ankleshwar assests.
The surplus energy after in-house consumption is being purchased by electricity distribution companies of Gujarat. This is ONGC's first CDM project on renewable energy, company statement said.
