Pakistan rice exports ease
LAHORE (Commodity Online) : Pakistan exported rice worth $360 million in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, which is 2.34 percent less than that exported in the corresponding period last year.
According to Pak Federal Bureau of Statistics, Basmati rice worth $523.1 million was exported by February of the current fiscal year, which is 31.74 percent short of that in the corresponding period last year, a private news channel reported.
Meanwhile, the exports of other varieties of rice were at $839.8 million up 33.45 percent in the same period.
The commodity worth $206.1 million was exported in February 2010, which is 56 percent more as compared to the last year.
The rice exports account for 11 percent of the total exports of the country and 65 percent of the food exports.
