Phyan eases, heavy rain likely over North West region
NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): Cyclone Phyan, which lashed over Arabian Sea, has weakened and its intensity is expected to weaken further in the next 24 hours, said Indian Meteorological Department.
Fairly widespread rainfall is likely in the next 24 hours over the western Maharashtra state, a key cotton and sugar cane grower, the department said on its Web site.
Madhya Pradesh, a major pulses and oilseeds growing state in central India, is also likely to get widespread rains in the next 48 hours. Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over parts of Gujarat and northwest India in the next two to three days, the department said.
