KUALA LUMPUR (Commodity Online): Mahathir Science Award Foundation (MSAF) awarded Professor Yuan Longping with Mahathir Science Award for his outstanding contribution to Tropical Agriculture.
Mahathir Science Award is one of the prestigious international award for tropical sciences.
He is also known as the 'Father of Hybrid Rice' and the award to the Professor was presented by YABhg Tun Mahathir Mohamad.
The award was presented to him for his independednt contribution to the norm in rice breeding resulting in the innovative development of hybrid rice.
The award carries a cash prize of RM100,000, a gold medal and a certificate.
The Mahathir Science Award Foundation is a foundation established on 10 June 2010 to uplift the stature of the award to be as one of the prominent international science award.
