Rubber exports plunges in Indonesia’s N Sumatra
JAKARTA (Commodity Online) : Indonesia’s North Sumatra province witnessed a sharp fall in rubber and rubber product exports last year.
According to provincial statistics office, exports plunged 38.42 percent to $1.183 billion from $1.921 billion the year before because of the global crisis.
Analysts said rubber exports showed signs of increase in the past few months of 2009.
Overall, the province’s foreign exchange earnings in 2009 fell 30.13 percent to $6.471 billion from the year before.
North Sumatra is Indonesia`s main rubber producing province.
