Rubber prices at comfortable level: Top producers
MUMBAI (Commodity Online): The major rubber producers of the world, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia have said that the countries are comfortable with the current rubber price tariff and no plan to fix new threshold price for the commodity.
Malaysia's Commodities Minister Bernard Dompok said the three countries were comfortable with current rubber prices, which are trading above $3 a kilo in January.
The three countries last fixed a threshold price of $1.35 a kilo in Dec. 2008 when rubber prices plummeted due to the economic crisis.
A part of the International Tripartite Rubber Corporation (ITRC) that brings together senior government officials from the three countries, IRCo uses supply-linked mechanisms to manage prices.
