MOSCOW (Commodity Online): With a presence across the value chain, Russia's largest diamond company Alrosa has reported net profit increase of 5.5 % to $568 mn y-o-y in the first half of 2011.
Company achieved rough diamond production of 19,326,200 carats, an increase of 1,735,900 carats from the same period in 2010.
The State owned diamond mining company made $2.2 billion in sales of rough and polished diamonds in H1 CY12, with contract sales raising $153.2 mn over H1 of 2010.
The company has in its pipeline 20-30 planned innovation and modernization projects that are expected to earn Alrosa some $437mn.
Alrosa accounts for approximately 25% of the world's rough diamond supply and 97% of Russia's rough diamond production.
