LONDON (Commodity Online): Tata Steel Europe plans to invest 2 million euros in the Hartlepool tube works to establish a central supply base and has also signed supply agreement with German steel tube producer Eisenbau Krämer (EBK) to expand the services in renewable energy sector.
In Hartlepool, Tata Steel is construct a central supply base for the steel tubular sections which is used in the manufacturing of wind turbine steel foundation structures known as jacket foundation.
The work for the site will start from October and is expected to completed by spring 2012.
The company has also signed supply agreement with German steel tube producer Eisenbau Krämer (EBK) to manufacture tubes with a diameter of 400 mm and above using plates manufactured by Tata Steel's Scunthorpe or Dalzell plants.
The company is expanding its presence in the renewable energy sector.
