MUMBAI (Commodity Online): Tata Steel Ltd (BSE: TATASTL : 500470, NSE: TATASTEEL) will supply 25,000 tons of high-quality profiled steel plates for wind turbines for Seimens Wind Power.
The steel will be delivered between April and September this year and it will be used by the Seimens to build about 150 onshore wind turbine towers.
Tata Steel has already supplied Siemens Wind Power with 6,000 tonne of steel plate for similar developments in the UK and Europe.
"Demand for steel in the renewable energy sector will continue to grow, and we are ideally placed to help our customers tap into this important opportunity. The agreement we have negotiated with Siemens Wind Power is a strategic customer alliance that will help in our objective to be a key supplier in the offshore wind power market."said Phil Knowles, commercial manager for power generation, Tata Steel.
In Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Tata Steel traded up 2.44% to Rs 435.20 on Thursday.
