BANGKOK (Commodity Online): The recent floods and shortage of labour in Thailand has raised the vegetable price, red chilli and french beans turned out to be red hot for consumers.
The most expensive among the vegetables are the red chilli and french beans. The red chilli which was sold at RM4 and RM5 a kilo before floods, it is now sold at RM24 per kilo.according to the reports of thestar.com
The French beans seems to the next most expensive it is been selling at between RM6 and RM10 per kilo.
The major reason is due the damages of crops caused by the floods and the shortage of labours due to Government activity.
According to the Kuala Lumpur Vegetable Wholesalers Association, the price of the vegetables is not expected to move down in the northern states even after the floodwaters subside.
