Urea sales in India rises 10.47%, production falls slightly

NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): The sales of urea in the country for the current season up to 30-9-2011 was 139.21 lakh metric tons, higher by 10.47%.


The sales in the same period last year was 126.02 lakh metric tons.


Meanwhile, the production of urea was marginally less compared to the estimated target of 18.28 lakh metric tons. The production for September, 2011 accounts for 17.66 lakh metric tons.Whereas the estimated production of Diammonium phosphate (DAP) during the month was 3.25 lakh metric tons as against the target of 4.22 lakh metric tons.


As regards decontrolled fertilizers, availability of DAP and Muriate of Potash (MOP) during the month of September 2011 had been about 11.32 lakh metric tons and 0.64 lakh metric tons respectively, which was adequate to meet the demand of the States.


During the month of September 2011, 8.33 lakh metric tons of urea was imported of which 1.12 lakh metric tons was imported from Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO), Oman and 7.21 lakh metric tons from others. In addition, 8.64 lakh metric tons of DAP, 1.29 lakh metric tons of Mono-Ammonium Phosphate (MAP), 3.91 lakh metric tons of NPK and 3.16 lakh metric tons of MOP was also imported into the country.
