Weather to be warmer over Scandinavia, UK

MASSACHUSSETS, USA (Commodity Online): WSI (Weather Services International) expects temperatures for the approaching period (April-June) to average warmer than normal across Scandinavia, UK, and the extreme northern mainland.

"After a cool April in many locations, we think above-normal temperatures will become more commonplace across Scandinavia and the UK in May and June, with below-normal temperatures confined to southern latitudes," said WSI Chief Meteorologist, Dr. Todd Crawford. "This general pattern of above-normal temperatures across the North and below-normal temperatures across the South will likely persist into the summer. It is still a bit too early to tell how the northern mainland and UK will fare this summer, with summer temperatures dependent upon the springtime evolution of local ocean temperatures, soil moisture patterns and the North Atlantic Oscillation."

In April, WSI predicts regional temperature anomalies as follows:
Scandinavia - Colder than normal, except coastal Norway
UK - Colder than normal, except northern sections
Northern Mainland - Colder than normal
Southern Mainland - Colder than normal

In May, WSI sees the monthly breakdown as:
Scandinavia - Milder than normal
UK - Milder than normal
Northern Mainland - Milder than normal
Southern Mainland - Cooler than normal

In June, WSI forecasts:
Scandinavia - Milder than normal
UK - Milder than normal
Northern Mainland - Cooler than normal
Southern Mainland - Cooler than normal

WSI, providing customized weather information to energy traders, will issue its next seasonal outlook (for the May-July and June-August periods) on 19 April.
