Weekly turnover at MCX hits Rs 53,904.18 cr
Commodity OnlineMUMBAI: The Future contracts at Multi-Commodity Exchange posted a turnover of Rs 53,904.18 crore for the week ended January 3.
According to a press note, the metal index showed a rise of 3.56 per cent at 2,685.15 points followed by Energy Index, which climbed 3.35 per cent to 2,865.21 points.
MCX COMDEX went up by 3.28 per cent at 2,458.09 points, while Agri-Index rose 2.14 per cent at 1,681.35 points, it said.
On the bullion counter, gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs 22,739.66 crore with an open interest of 17,415 kg and volumes at 211,110 kg. The February delivery of gold was up by 4.14 per cent at Rs 10,975 per ten gram as compared to the previous week's close.
Silver contracts too clocked a turnover of Rs 9,581.27 crore with an open interest of 3,98,325 kg and volume at 48,59,125 kg. The March delivery of silver moved up by 3.45 per cent at Rs 20,053 per kg.
In the metal segment, copper contracts across the board registered a turnover of Rs 4314.95 crore with an open interest of 15,524 tonnes and total volume standing at 159,677 tonnes. February delivery of copper scored marginal gains of 1.81 per cent at Rs 278.45 per kg.
Other metal contracts like zinc, lead and nickel posted a turnover of Rs 2601.05 crore, Rs 1350.64 crore and Rs 929.76 crore respectively during the week. The January delivery of these metals gained in the range of 1.24 per cent to 5.77 per cent.
