LOS ANGELES (Commodity Online):
Even as the new Hollywood wonder ‘Avatar’ bagged the all coveted awards at the Golden Globe this year, there was another sellar performance by platinum at the gala event this year.

In fact platinum made all the diamonds sparkle better at the big event this week with almost all the Hollywood stars donning platinum on the occasion.

The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards witnessed a rare phenomenon of all celebrities choosing platinum to highlight their diamonds on big earrings or stackable cuff bracelets.

Platinum gained respect because the metal was a good medium to highlight the stars’ colored gemstones, which made big appearance on the red carpet. Since platinum is a naturally-white metal, it will maximize the brilliance of colored stones.

If you have any doubt about the big stars’ preferences just read the following list: Toni Collette wore platinum and diamond drop earrings, bracelets and rings by Neil Lane. Emily Blunt donned blackened platinum and coloured diamond bracelets and earrings (30 carats) by Lorraine Schwartz. Platinum and diamond ring by Neil Lane. January Jones sported platinum and diamond bracelets by Neil Lane. Zoe Saldana wore platinum rings and bracelet with ruby and diamonds by Neil Lane. Platinum and ruby earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. The big star Drew Barrymore was spotted wearing platinum and diamond stud earrings (24 carats), and a platinum and moonstone ring (80 carats) by Lorraine Schwartz. Olivia Wilde used the occasion to flaunt platinum bangle and earrings with diamonds and black onyx by Tiffany & Co. Penelope Cruz also wore platinum and diamond earrings (20 carats), platinum and diamond bracelet (42 carats), and a platinum and pink diamond ring (7 carats) by Chopard. Nicole Kidman donned platinum bracelets with diamonds and emeralds by Fred Leighton. Halle Berry put on a platinum and diamond bracelet by Kimberly McDonald. Jennifer Garner showed off her platinum and diamond bracelet by Bvlgari at the event. Lisa Edelstein was seen wearing blackened platinum earrings with blue sapphire and diamonds, platinum bracelet, flower brooch and two rings by Lorraine Schwartz. Ginnifer Goodwin also preferred platinum and diamond cuff, ring and earrings by Neil Lane. Kate Winslet put on platinum and diamond earrings and bracelets by Tiffany & Co. Tina Fey used the occasion to show off a platinum and diamond earclips, bracelet, ring and bands by Fred Leighton. Jennifer Carpenter wore platinum and diamond earrings, rings and bracelets by Neil Lane. Julianne Moore put on a platinum and diamond ring by Bvlgari. Kate Walsh also sported platinum and diamond earrings, bracelet and ring by Neil Lane.

And the list is never ending. The reason for Hollywood going for platinum is the charm of the metal itself. Platinum’s high level of purity (generally 90%-95% pure) endows it with both a natural white luster, allowing the true radiance of a diamond or gemstone to shine; and hypoallergenic qualities that prove ideal for sensitive skin.

Only the purest platinum jewelry will bear a stamp reading "PLATINUM", "PLAT", "Pt 950", or "Pt 900", signifying the jewelry is 90% to 95% pure platinum.

Platinum is 30 times more rare than gold. Platinum will hold a diamond or gemstone securely, now and for always.
