NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): World natural rubber production is estimated to be around 11.42 million tons (mt) for 2012, while consumption projected at 11.49 mt showing a supply side deficit of 77,000 mt, according to International Rubber Study Group.
But by 2020, the global rubber consumption is forecast to reach 36 mt while consumption at 16.5 mt.
Meanwhile, the rubber production in the fourth largest producer, India, is estimated to be around 902,000 mt and consumption estimated at 966,000 mt for the fiscal 2011-12, reported Platts.
India will import around 170,000 mt to meet the domestic demand and also will export 30,000 mt.
Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia are the top three natural rubber producing countries in the world.
For February delivery, in Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), rubber traded at 297.5 Yen per Kg and in India's National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE), the commodity traded at Rs 19,038 per ton.
