World needs more than 40% water by 2030: Study
MUMBAI (Commodity Online): Global fresh water demand is likely to more than 40% as against the current supply level by 2030, according to a report by the 2030 Water Resources Group.
Agriculture alone would absorb around 65% of the water by 2030, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
The reports further predicted the fate of India, by 2030 water resources of the country would be drained up due to the want of double water from current level.
The initiative, headed by consulting firm McKinsey and Co., studied China, India, South Africa and Sao Paulo state in Brazil - four areas that together by 2030 will account for 42% of projected global water demand.
