The central government is reported to have set plans to release around 3 million tones of wheat to the open market to control its price increases.
The government is looking forward to promote the sales of around three million tones of wheat by government agencies under the open market sale scheme (OMSS) in order to prevent unusual high increase in the price of the same.
Recently the price of wheat had reached to a record price of 32 per kg which had been a reason for the price increase of other wheat products like wheat flour. The new step by the government is expected to reduce the price of wheat and its by products by around Rs.1 or Rs.2.
The new supply of wheat by the government agencies is expected to reach the market within the coming 10-15 days.
