India has permitted the export of maida (refined flour) and suji (semolina) processed from imported wheat by entirely export oriented units, or the factories located in special economic zones (ZES).
The permit allows duty-free import of the inputs which have to be strictly used for manufacturing the products that are to be exported within a particular time and not to be sold in domestic markets. The products have to be exported within 180 days from the date of import of the consignment.
After the government continued with the ban on the export of wheat products the wheat precessors requested government permission for importing wheat for carrying out value-added exports
