Rabi crops cultivation increases in India by 4.4%

Based on data from the Union Farm Ministry, rabi crops have been planted by the farmers on around 620.62 lakh hectares to date which is nearly 4.4% more compared to the 594.62 lakh hectares that were the total acreage during the previous cropping season.

Among all other crops wheat is reported to have been leading the way as its cultivation area has increased by 9.65 lakh hectares from 302.61 to 312.26 lakh hectares.

Besides wheat, rabi crops like rapeseed and mustard also are sown more than the previous season. However, wheat is the main crop that has been sown to date and farmers and traders are expecting a considerably large harvest during the coming season.
