The production of Kharif rice to fall by 6%

The Kharif rice production estimates are reported to have been lower than the expected production which is 112 mt. The reports released by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare indicate the total production of the crop to fall by 6%  as the overall production could not reach the target rate of 112mt.

The fall in the total production of Kharif rice is considerably significant as the requirement of rice for distribution could not be met. Detailed studies are required to analyse the shortcomings of the systems and agricultural facilities.

The ministry stated that during 2022-23 the total production of Kharif rice is estimated to be 104.99 million tones which is higher by around 4.40 million tones than the previous years’ overall Kharif rice production of nearly 100.59 million tones.
