In a bid to meet the domestic demand amid supply crunch, India is mulling to ship more natural rubber from Thailand. The country, reportedly is seeking to import around three lakh tonnes (LT) of natural rubber from Thailand.

According to All India Rubber Industries, Thailand has offered around 3 lakh tonnes of natural rubber to India. The domestic tyre, rubber industry and the Thai authority have started negotiations in this regard, said the trade body.

India’s requires over 10 lakh tonnes of natural rubber to meet its annual demand while the domestic production hovers around 5 lakh tonnes. A high-level delegation from Thailand is expected to visit India soon to talk about the imports.
